Cross Country

Yesterday,the 9th of June Kapanui School had Cross Country. I was going to be a photographer.I  went down to the park with the little kids. They separated into year groups and did some warm ups.Then Mr Chaters clapped the big wooden block andBANG!!They were off. They ran and ran. I took some photos.All the juniors had cute smiles on their faces as they ran past me.Then it was the Explorers turn. They did their warm ups and ran after the blocks of wood bashed together. I took some more photos but it was hard because they were so fast. Now my turn. I lined up did my warm ups and when the blocks went Bang!! I ran. At first I was trudging behind a bit but at the hill I almost disappeared in almost thin air.I ran down the hill passing two others. We entered the bush and I passed another five. Down through the bush there was a huge gap behind me. I was 6th  so for me I was doing well. We came down the concrete path and over a big patch of dry land and grass. We entered another bush, jumped a gate and around a pole. We ran over the field and over the zigzagged across the soccer  and rugby fields. I passed another three but right behind me another two and they were gaining on me but. Even though I tried really hard my little legs could not move fast enough. They ran in front of me and I had now become fifth. We were on the last part of the race and I ran with all my might and happily finished fifth.Now I am going to the inter school next week on Wednesday. Hooray!!:-D
