Golf

Golf

Yesterday my class went to a golf section with Kevin, Rob and Joe. Kevin is a professional golfer and he took some of his time to teach us golf, first we did some small hits into hoops and then we practised with flags on our big swing and the sound was magnificent. When we were doing the hits we were using fake golf balls for safety and a tennis ball for the big hits. I was better than I would have been if my granddad didn't take me to his golf course then I reckon I would have been terrible. But overall I had a great time.

Inquirers Hemi Matenga trip

Hemi Matenga

Hemi Matenga

On Monday, my class went to Hemi Matenga for our topic - from the hills to the sea - and did the small Kohekohe walk.

While we were walking, we did occasional stops to do bush activities such as one where we had to draw the plant with detail, measure the leaf and identify it with a sheet that had loads of names of plants on them. We also did another activity where there was a sheet with different layers of the bush transformed into house names such as furniture, roof trees and carpet shrubs. We had to name one of the trees in each section, and the describe the type of trees they were.

At the start and end of the track, there were huge water tanks witch pumped up water to the top of the mountain. This creates the pressure that makes the water come out of the taps. When we got to a high of the mountain bit we could see the school.

To get there we had to organise transport. We also had to send home permission slips to assure that the teacher could take us out of school, so we joined the two things together to make one permission slip.

Swimming Sports

On the 9th of March it was swimming sports for Kapanui School.
Swimming sports is a time of year that the whole school goes down to the pool for a competition with others from the school to see who can get into the finals or even inter schools:-)

Here are some photos of these great events:

Inquirers Bike skills

Bike skills

Bike skills was AWESOME!!! Especially with the best coaches Andy and Pall!!! I learnt how to indicate, stop in a hurry, check my bike and check my helmet. First we did the roll, and got divided into two groups, group 1 and group 2 (Basketball court and Netball court). I was put into the Basketball group (group 1). The first thing we did after the grouping was check our helmet/bike. The trick to checking your bike is A, B, C and D (A=air in your tires, B=breaks front and rear C= chain so your wheels move, and D=drift so your bike doesn't drift when you try to turn). Once we checked all of our bikes it was time to get on to our bikes!!! But first we had to learn how to get on our bike (the peddle ready position). Then we did a bike race (across the field and back). After the bike race biking activities like everyone biking in a figure of 8 (HARD!!!) In the end we did the activities and they were all fun/hard!!! Everyone got an AWESOME certificate for participating.
